Our travel behaviour is changing: More and more people now leave their cars at home and opt instead for stress-free travel by rail, bus or bike. Strengthening eco-mobility is a positive trend. However, as the use of transport modes shifts, are the cities ready?
The international event Shaping Transportation, which will take place from 26 – 28 May 2014 in Berlin, will bring together transport policy thinkers, shapers and decision-makers as well as software users from around the world. Under the motto “Joined up thinking – create intelligent movements“ they will discuss new concepts encouraging integration of existing transport modes. One of the major challenges is the growing demand for logistics services. Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs, the OECD, EMBARQ and the African Development Bank will be among the prominent speakers.
Shaping Transportation is a new event format which we introduced in London last year. We are going to continue with this format which includes conference sessions and the traditional PTV Vision User Group Meeting. And there will be one particular highlight for our participants in 2014: As we have chosen Berlin as the venue for our event, we have decided to hold the German and international User Group Meetings in parallel. This means participants have the opportunity to attend the presentations and workshops of both meetings (held either in German or English). For the German stream a simultanous translation will be available.
